Branch Rickey and Jackie Robinson Agreeing on a contract with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1946
For Years Branch Rickey, the Brooklyn Dodgers owner had a plan that would change baseball forever. The plan that involved Branch Rickey signing a black player in a league that had been segregated since 1889 was known as " The Great Experiment". The experiment was a huge gamble though because if the experiment failed, if Jackie Robinson acted out in anger towards any white person, the future of blacks in the league would be very dull. In the end it payed off as, Jackie Robinson had a great career with the Dodgers and opened up the way for other great black players like Hank Aaron.
